Software developers are employed in a range of industries – from computer systems design to manufacturing and finance. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, software development jobs are projected to increase by 30 percent over the period of 2016 to 2026. The reports say that an estimated 253,400 jobs will open up during this period.

Information Security Analyst:

Information security is a top priority for every organization, be it the government, a health care organization, an insurance company or a financial system. The growing number of cyber attacks have made information security analysts a must-have for every organization. The Bureau of Labor Statistics expects that between 2016 and 2026, these positions will proliferate at a rate of over 28 percent.

IT Manager:

IT managers are found in most organizations though the highest-profile jobs are in computer system designs. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts an employment growth of 12 percent between 2016 and 2026. That is, about 43,000 new jobs will open up during the period.

Computer Systems Analysts:

Businesses and organizations are increasingly relying on information technology. So, apart from computer systems design firms, a host of other industries needs computer system analysts. The Bureau of Labor Statistics expects a 9 percent employment growth during 2016 and 2026. About 53,000 new computer systems analyst positions are likely to be filled in this period.

Computer Network Architect:

The demand for computer network architects will grow at a rate of 6 percent between 2016 and 2026, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. About 10,400 new positions will open up during this period. The drivers for this growth include the need to build new networks or upgrade the existing ones, and the growing popularity of cloud computing.

Computer Systems Administrator:

Computer systems administrators are expected to implement security measures to protect the workplace computer systems. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, these positions will increase by  6 percent between 2016 and 2026. That is 23,900 new positions will be created and filled during this period.

Database Administrator:

The Bureau of Labor Statistics expects that 13,700 new database administrator jobs will be created during 2016 and 2026. That is, a 11 percent employment growth will be seen in this profession. In the era of apps, tablets, and social media, database administrators are responsible for not only storing and organizing the data but also for ensuring that it is protected and safe from unruly pirates.
